Happy Weekiversary!

Hard to believe a week ago today one of my dearest life long friends married the man of her dreams! Happy Weekiversary Matt and Jocey. ;) Can you two believe you got married last weekend???

It is honestly surreal to see your friends get married, I still feel like we are playing house in each other's bedrooms, giving each other massages before falling asleep and chatting till late hours of the night during sleepovers. No matter how far apart Jocey and I are, reconnecting and chatting for hours has never been an issue. Life is way too fast! Even though I'm still very young, as every year passes and another birthday comes it seems to go faster and faster.

I am over the moon excited for Jocey and Matt! They are an amazing couple that honors Christ in all they do. What an incredible example they are to so many. As their next journey and new phase of life begins I wish them nothing but happiness. I love you both dearly and hope your summer in New Jersey is awesome!

Here's to new beginnings and LOVE!

Happy Sunday y'all!

xx

We all wish this new Mrs. nothing but the BEST!!

You are so dear, Jocelyn Ruth!

A year in review!

A year ago today I was at St. Mary's College and my name was called as I walked across the stage in a blue cap and gown.. Time really does fly. It's been a year to say the least but wow I have come so far. I am grateful for the memories my senior year holds, but most of all I'm grateful for how the Lord has grown me in this year of transition into a new phase of life.
I cannot even begin to describe the emotions I felt on the day of my high school graduation. Thirteen years of my life had led me to this moment and within 6 seconds of walking across the stage, hearing my name, and shaking a few hands, the moment would be over. I'd officially be a high school graduate. The next phase would begin. I was nervous, excited and unsure of what the next year would hold. My family would be picking up our "comfortable" lives in Maryland to move half way across the country to the great state of Texas.
Moving to Texas was the best thing that could have happened to me. My plan A out of high school was to attend Texas A & M and major in Marketing with a minor in Communications. In March of my senior year I received a letter stating I was accepted into a program called the Program for System Admissions. I would attend a sister school, maintain a 3.0 GPA, complete 24 credit hours and be guaranteed admission my sophomore year.  It definitely wasn't what I was hoping for, but A & M was a part of my plan so I was going to do whatever it took to get there. I chose the school Texas A & M--Commerce in East Texas, previously named East Texas State University. It was definitely not what I expected, but without this past year I wouldn't be able to appreciate little things in my life and know the real meaning of perseverance. After a long freshman year, I am grateful to announce I will be attending A & M in the fall. I will be in the college of Agriculture with an undecided major, hopefully I'll have that figured out by the end of the weekend. :) God is good and I'm so grateful for this past year and how I can look back on it. As a new year begins, "An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves."

Cheers to new beginnings and appreciating the memories of old ones!

Dress well--featuring Cabi, Gap, Forever 21, and Kendra Scott

Everyone needs an easy go-to summer outfit that they can dress up or down! Jeans are personally my favorite no matter what season. They are chic and perfect for really any occasion, just change the washes up if necessary. I also love the simple white shirts, they bring out the tan in everyone whether that means you're all Irish like myself or have beautifully olive skin! White shirts are a MUST. Who doesn't love a black classic wedge? They are perfect for a night on the town and if you don't care to wear them all day, this outfit will work beautifully with a simple flat or sandal. Now for the pop of color, ever since arriving in Texas I am absolutely in LOVE with Kendra Scott. I wear her pieces almost everyday. They can be dressed up or down and are a superb accessory. The hat is just for some summer fun! It has an adorable chill look about it that is perfect for the beach, a night out, or any normal summer day! Summer 2015 is finally here, share your go-to summer outfit in the comments!

Eat Well--the gluten free lifestyle

Oh the joys of food! Honestly, life isn't well lived without good food! I am a lover of all things girly, but most of all I love my food.. Thanks to the gluten allergy I think I have, I had to make a quick transition to basically a gluten free diet. I vowed all my life I wouldn't become a girl who ate rice and beans for dinner instead of bread, but what do you know? Here I am...
That being said I went on a nice 3 mile walk this morning and came home starving! Eggs are my go-to because they have awesome protein, but let me tell you, eggs all-day-everyday gets rather old. So today I decided to spice things up a bit. I made the eggs sunny side up and added pepperoni. That with in itself was RAD, but to top it off, I made an amazing sauce to go with it.. mayo, dijon mustard, and lemon juice. To. Die. For. Then I added a green, good old avocado and for a little carb, corn tortillas. To say my breakfast was amazing would be an understatement. Chalk this one up to one of the meals I'll be using for awhile!

land of the FREE because of the BRAVE

As a military brat, days like today have always caused me to reflect on the sacrifice that men and women around the world have made so America can be a place I call home. But today especially and this year, I have this new found appreciation for the sacrifice that the fallen soldiers made. As a new Air Force girlfriend of only a few months, I have learned a lot about the military community and how hard military life really is and my journey with Zach has only just begun. My boyfriend Zach is planning to take the career path of special operations, specifically he wants to become a pararescue man. His job will be to go in and save the injured soldiers at war. His deployments will consist of three month spans and his potential impact is incredible. I honestly couldn't be prouder. What more of a sacrifice and heart to serve others could I ask for? Zach enlisted on March 10th of this year and since then my heart has this spot for the military that is softer than ever before. I was beaming with pride the weekend of his boot camp graduation. I could hardly say anything without bursting into tears.
This thing they call "military life" is one not traveled by many and very hard. Words cannot begin to express the sadness and remorse I feel for the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, wives, children who have lost their soldier. Your loved one fought for what they believed was one of the greatest causes worth fighting for. Thank YOU for sacrificing them and giving away a piece of your heart so we could all live in the land of the free and home of the brave.
