Sandals, Sunscreen, and More!

Happy Monday, friends! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was awesome but way too quick..I can't believe the 4th of July is next weekend!! Where has the year gone?? Share your plans in the comments!
On that note, I wanted to share some budget friendly summer essentials!

1. With coming to Texas I was introduced to Altar'd State. Talk about a fun, beautiful, inspiring store! They just recently had a HUGE sale. Anyway, if you have one near you, GO! I got some awesome sandals. A casual chic summer sandal is a must. I paid $13 for mine, order them if you can! Sandals are worth spending money on, it's what I live in during the summer. What's your go-to summer shoe?

2. With the Texas sun, burning is super easy. I have detested sunscreen since I was a little girl but I finally found some that I like and isn't terrible. You can buy it at Target, Walmart, and any drug store for that matter..It has a nice glow to it, isn't greasy, and smells nice. Those are all very important to me when it comes to protecting my skin.

3. Lastly, hydration is so so important! I can't stress that enough as I'm sure most can't. Multiple people have told me about the electrolyte water and I had never tried it. Today I purchased some and love it already. I got it for $0.99 at Target. It has a crisp taste to it and the electrolytes help with so many different functions in your body to help you stay hydrated and healthy during the hottest summer months!

New Summer Do!

Happy Thursday y'all! Tomorrow is Friday!! Whoop! Today I'm giving you a quick easy, fun, summer style that gets your hair off your neck! Being in the GREAT, but EXTREMELY HOT state of Texas that is so so very important! Especially if I want to survive the summer. I was browsing Pinterest and searched "Boho Chic" and this hairstyle popped up:

I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a go...and luckily my hairstyle was a success!

Try this one out, tweak it as necessary depending on the length and texture of your hair. One thing I did have in my hair that made it stay up better was a product I actually purchased from Walmart for $5. I used it on my hair the day before for beach waves, so my hair was slightly dirty with some sea salt in it. The product is pictured below! Let me know how your 3-step summer do works! Enjoy ladies!

"Everyday is full of emotion"

Yesterday I saw the box office biggie--Inside Out! To say the least, it could be up there as one of my top favorite Pixar movies, "well done" would be an understatement. Pixar has always done a phenomenal job but the older I get, the more I come to realize that the movies have a lot of deep heart struggles and life lessons in them. There is a lot of character development and character refining in the movies and I love that about them. This one imparticular had an incredible message that was almost completely applicable to what I just experienced with coming here to Texas. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but as a word of encouragement for you today.. You can't move forward in life without experiencing sadness because without sadness there is no joy. Sweet little 11 year old Reilly came to that realization in this movie and it definitely made me think. There are chapters and seasons of our lives that will be closed as we grow older. The more we try to not close them the more difficult it gets. Grieving the end of a season is OKAY, (trust me, I did that myself this year and although it isn't fun it is necessary) because it helps us to move forward, but don't stay stuck in a chapter of your life that is meant to be closed. More forward and find your true JOY with where you are at, no matter what the circumstance. There is joy in the little things, so I challenge you to find them today! Be like Joy from Inside Out..be the light for someone else today because the joy in your own life is unspeakable! Happy Wednesday, friends! Go see that movie this weekend, you won't regret it!

White Summer Toes!

So my slogan for today is TOEtally adorable Tuesday! I wanted to share with you all a fun way to spice up your nails this summer! This is my second summer doing it and I must say, I am a fan! Rather than french manicure, step out of your comfort zone and try all white nail polish. If you have tried it before I'm sure you're hooked like myself, and if you haven't you're missing out! I love how it's a simple pop and makes anyone's skin look tan. Classic Chic are the words I would put with the look! Step out of the hot pink, red, blue, whatever color is your favorite and try the ever-so-beautiful, White! If you do, share your thoughts in the comments!

P.S. If you don't like feet, I apologize...but I had to show you how good it looks, even if you're Irish ;)

Friday Night Style

Happy Monday everyone and Happy belated Father's Day to all the dads out there!

I wanted to share some fashion fun and maybe inspire you all to check out a clothing line that I adore. My current job is in the retail sector for those that don't know, I do work at the Cabi outlet near my house. For those who don't know what Cabi (Carol Anderson by invitation) is, it's an independent consultant company that sells a clothing line for women of all ages. I absolutely love it!  Visit their website to find a consultant, host a party, or join the Cabi team! To see if there is an outlet near you, click here. The outlet is all the overstock that the consultants don't sell. There is a wide variety of sizes and styles and the outlet is a year behind what the consultants are selling but everything comes into the store 30% off then there is a store promotion! It's the bomb diggity.   I absolutely love my job and I have the horrible chore of wearing the Cabi line! Check out my outfit from Friday! I love the lace top with the ripped casual jean and a little kitten heel. It adds the perfect sassy touch! Just add a red lip to dress it up for date night with a cute clutch. What's your go-to Friday night outfit?

14 Day Cleanse!

Happy Friday y'all!
My Thursday was a bit crazy with work so here I am... as of yesterday I decided I'll be doing a 14 day cleanse. No special drinks or vitamins just cutting out all the junk. My two week cleanse will consist of fruits, veggies, meat, and choice dairy products. No sweets or carbs! I've been adding some gluten here and there to my diet (because we can all agree no gluten just plain STINKS!!!). To say the least I haven't felt all that great..so with this two week detox I'm hoping to feel superb! On top of the clean eating I plan to be exercising consistently. This is nothing too exciting but I challenge you to do it with me for the next two weeks! Below is a nice little chart to help you swap out ingredients to make your eating habits clean. You'll finish right before the 4th of July! How perfect is that?? ;) Pretty perfect if I do say so myself! Have a fabulous Friday, friends!

Perfect Summer Makeup

Halfway through the week! Whoop! Tropical storm Bill is making his appearance here in Texas and I'm not going to lie, I'm tired of the rain....summer rain is just..blah. Humid and wet. Gross.
That being said, just this week now that my face is getting a little color (before the rain hit of course) I started using less makeup. There's winter makeup and summer makeup. Winter makeup I feel like you have more blemishes and my face is just white as a ghost, so praise the Lord for makeup because it covers all that wonderfully and doesn't make me look like a raccoon. Summer makeup I love, I can feel beautiful with very little! The few summer makeup essentials I use are:

1. Tarte Amazon Clay Foundation--Ulta
2. Elf Warm Bronzer-- Target
3. Younique Mascara
4. Mary Kay Concealer
5. Mary Kay Lipstick (Sunny Citrus)

Summer leaves me free of eyeliner and eyeshadow, unless it's a special occasion of course! It's a beautiful thing and makes getting ready for bed a little faster. ;)

Rainy Day Outfit!

Happy Tuesday!
Here in Texas tropical storm Bill is headed my way so I figured it would be a perfect time to share my idea of the perfect rainy day outfit for the summer! This entire outfit is Cabi BUT they are simple basic pieces you can purchase anywhere inside your budget! The beauty of simple basic outfits..

1. This jacket like I said, is from Cabi. It's the Fairway Jacket. It's light and has an athletic type material to it making it super comfortable for the summer heat while being an easy throw over if it's raining like crazy wherever you are.

2. Next is a basic tee. Specifically, this is the Marble Tee from Cabi. I personally love this shirt because it's comfortable and you can dress it up or down! It's shape is the reason for that, yes it's a t-shirt but it has a blouse shape to it making it very versatile.

3. You can never go wrong with yoga pants/capris! Cabi's tech wear is amazing but any cropped legging is perfect. They are comfortable and nice for the rain. I personally don't like to wear shorts or jeans when it's raining so the comfortable capri is a nice in-between.

4. Hunter rain boots...classics as most will say. I added these boots for a pop of color but obviously when it's raining ANY rain boot will do.

I also love this outfit for a summer week day or if you're going to a sporting event. It's casual yet cute...just add some converse or flip flops of your choice!

Stay dry!!

I'm going to be an Aggie (officially)!

Well it's Monday, but it's not just any Monday....it's a summer Monday. Hope everyone's week is off to a great start! My weekend was full of working..but what's life without work?

Anyway, other than working I received exciting news. I received an official letter from Texas A & M that I was accepted and will be a part of the fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2018! WHOOP! I am over the moon excited and anxious for what's ahead. I know God's plans are great but I am nervous for the change and new place all over again. But my refining year at Commerce has equipped me (or at least I feel equipped) for whatever the Lord has. God is good and I'm grateful that His mercies are new everyday.

Did anyone else receive exciting news this weekend?
I hope everyone's Monday is filled with sunshine and laughter!

A day in my city!

Happy Saturday!!
I had the day off from work yesterday so I decided to spend the day being adventuresome! My dear "sister" Sarah who lives with my family, her brother, Bradley came into town for the night so we took the opportunity to see a movie, try a new food place, and visit the George Bush Library and Museum! It was a RAD day to say the least! If you ever have the opportunity to visit the George Bush Library in Dallas, don't pass the opportunity up! It's an amazing museum that's inspiring and empowering! I could only hope I might make the lasting impact George and Laura did in my lifetime.

For those of you debating whether to see Aloha, wonder no further! The movie is an awesome military story that leaves you with a smile on your face! Besides who doesn't love Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, and THE Rachel McAdams??! You won't be disappointed! If you haven't seen the trailer, check it out here:

The food place we visited after the movie was called Bread Winners...AMAZING! I had a Crap Cake salad with greens, corn, almonds, tomatoes, and a vinaigrette. It was so so good. If there is a Bread Winners in your area, make it your Sunday brunch destination tomorrow!

Now the greatest attraction of them all...the George Bush Library and Museum! What an incredible way to honor the Bush family and their presidency. I love George's heart for faith, family, and country. He is such a humble individual and his wife has such grace and poise! The quotes throughout the museum were amazing and the history behind their family and presidency is fascinating!

Successful day in my city to say the least!!

Summer Reading!

It's Monday y'all! The first true day of summer for many. AHH! Freedom at last. That being said, does anyone have a summer reading list? In another world I would... I wish I enjoyed reading, but this morning, little did I know...
I am not a reader but God sure does have a sense of humor.. I go into my mom's office this morning to say good morning and see what she's up to. She has a book on her desk titled "The Sacred Search" by Gary Thomas. The cover caught my eye. I asked my mom about it and started reading. It's now 2:30 and I've read about four and a half chapters. The book is amazing! I recommend it to anyone that is dating or looking to get married one day. The book has so much truth in it and is very encouraging. I love God's way of sending encouragement to us. My favorite excerpt from the book so far is,

"When husband and wife are committed in Christ, growing together in the Lord, supporting each other in their spiritual walks, raising children in the fear of the Lord, loving each other out of reverence for God, joy abounds and miracles happen. Selfish people become servants. Self-centered children grow up to become works in God's kingdom. Strangers become intimate friends. Daily life is filled with the drama of kingdom building. There are plenty of mistakes, lots of repenting, times of frustration, sickness, and even doubts. But in the end, God's presence prevails, people are transformed, kingdom work is accomplished, and trials are overcome."

Kate Spade Obsessed

Happy Sunday y'all!

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was great! Relaxing and fun. I am now a part of team iPhone 6, that was my newest upgrade this weekend and I must say I am pretty pleased and I've only had it since this afternoon. ;)

Another guilty pleasure of mine is bags. I absolutely LOVE bags. They are beautiful and just melt my girly girl heart. Living in the North Dallas area, I have the pleasure of being surrounded by all things SHOPPING! Oh darn, some would say. OH YAY! Others would say. I'm a part of that group. I work in the outlets by my house and with that comes the tough responsibility and duty as a woman to shop at Kate Spade, ESPECIALLY since their sale right now is 50% off the entire store..yes you heard me right! 50% off KATE SPADE items!! *insert loud girl scream* I purchased my very first Kate Spade cross body when I completed my freshman year at Commerce in May and this weekend I made two other small purchases to add to my collection! My cross body is amazing! It's the perfect summer clutch that is an amazing pop of color for any outfit. I got it for $70, it was a STEAL!! The two items I purchased this weekend were the small wallet called the Graham which holds a couple cards and cash and is the perfect "practical, carry with you everywhere" type wallet, I got it for $22. My latest purchase is my colorful summer phone case which I love. It brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. It's just so...happy! That was $21. Hopefully as summer continues my "bargain Kate Spade collection" will continue! For now, I'll live colorfully, as Kate Spade herself would say..

"The music is all around us, all you have to do is listen."

I can't believe a year ago tomorrow I performed for the very last time on the stage with my company--Ballet Caliente. Little did I know how much I would miss it..

"A girl with a passion is unstoppable."

Passion, it's what feeds your soul when you've been sucked dry. It lights you up inside like nothing else can, it fuels your drive and gives you purpose. Life without passion is dull. I've had the pleasure of spending fifteen years of my life doing what I consider my passion...dance. I'm a ballerina and always will be. I thought after graduating high school the chapter would come to a close, it would be something of the past, that I loved and treasured but not something I would want to continue the rest of my life. I was wrong. I haven't danced in a year and it feels as though a part of me has gone to the grave. Passion fuels purpose and when part of my passion was taken from me, I felt as though a part of me was gone. I absolutely love dancing and always will. I want it to be a part of who I am for the rest of my life.  As I've grown and transition into the next phase of my life I've come to realize that you have to do what makes you happy. Life is far too short to be miserable and not content with what you're doing. What I mean by happy doest mean you won't experience anything hard, because that's not reality. We all face hard things because its what makes us who we are, but living everyday doing what you love is how life should be lived. As corny as the saying YOLO sounds, it's true, you're only given one life...so make the most of it and fuel your passion. Find purpose. I promise, you won't regret it.

"Dance enables you to find yourself and loose yourself all at the same time."
