Dressing for YOUR body type




Happy Wednesday, friends! As you saw on Monday, I've had the pleasure partnering with Fit Nut Chelsea.. a blog about health and fitness. If you missed the post Monday, click here. We decided to collaborate, with my fashion sense and her fitness mind, I bring you...dressing the BEST for YOUR body type! I hope after this post you'll feel educated about what body type you have and inspired to treat yourself to a little shopping. Lets start with the different body types and how you know which one you have:


Pear: You have narrow shoulders and wider hips. Thanks to your hips though, your waist is beautifully defined! 

Best features: shoulders, torso, and flat stomach
What you should emphasize: waist, arms, minimize hips

DOS and DONTS of clothing:
DONT wear things that draw attention to your hips like cargo pants or print skirts
DO wear lighter colors on top and darker on bottom for a nice contrast
DO wear strapless dresses to show off arms and even out proportions.
DO wear jackets that hit right above the waist.
DONT go crazy with stripes, it will make your hips look wider.






Wedge: aka, the strawberry. Broader shoulder with a narrow waist and hips creating an inverted triangle.
Best features: your legs
What you should emphasize: your lower body while softening your shoulders and upper body.

DOS and DONTS of clothing:
DO wear bright colors on the bottom.
DO wear wide leg pants.
DO wear full skirts.
DONT wear spaghetti strap tops.
DO your best to wear clothes that soften your shoulders, keeping them covered will help with that.




Rectangle: the waist, hips and shoulder width is all similar and usually on the slim side.
Best features: your arms and legs--you don't have to minimize any body part.
What you should emphasize: create curves and show off slender arms and legs.

DOS and DONTS of clothing:
DO wear scoop neck and sweetheart tops to create curves.
DO wear long jackets to create a lean look
DO wear a good bra that will make the most of what you have.
DONT wear overwhelming styles.





Apple: You hold most of your weight above your hips, which are narrow. Your back, ribs, and shoulders are broad.
Best features: those legs!
What you should emphasize: elongate the torso, show off your legs and use fashion to create the illusion of the waist.

DOS and DONTS of clothing:
DO go for vneck tops to create the illusion of a longer torso.
DO wear a bra that offers good lift and support.
DO conceal tummy bulge by wearing empire tops and dresses.
DO wear boot cut and flared jeans to create an even look from the shoulders down.






Hourglass: your shoulders and hips are similar in size and set off by a tiny waist.
Best features: curves!!
What you should emphasize: show off your curves without going overboard.

DOS and DONTS of clothing:
DONT hide your curves with baggy clothing.
DO wear fitted dresses.
DO wear skinny or straight leg jeans.
DO wear a belt at the waist to enhance your hourglass figure.
