Refreshing Curls Do

Where has the week gone?? Honestly time has gone by so fast! I can't believe I start school Monday.. yikes!
With that being said I wanted to share a quick and easy hairdo with second day curls. The wave in my hair was leftover from my #freshinfifteen post and I wasn't ready to put my hair up quite yet so I put a  few more curls in it to make it "fresh" again and decided to add a dutch braid.

Now for those wondering, dutch braids are really simple. All you do is braid under. So divide your hair into 3 sections. Take the strand closest to the front of your head and take it under the middle strand. Then do the same with the strand towards the back of your head. Do this once then begin grabbing hair from the rest of your head to make the braid bigger. It creates a nice simple look that looks like you put tons of time into your hair and it only took you a few minutes!

Beach waves creates a put together yet causal look

Happy Friday, friends! It's my last weekend of summer. Cheers!

Fresh in Fifteen

Many of you know that I love Kate Bryan, writer of The Small Things blog. If one day I could have as successful a blog as she has, I'd be so content. It's a goal and I'm working towards it.

Last week she did a video called Fresh in Fifteen where she got completely ready (hair and makeup) in 15 minutes. At first I didn't believe it was possible but what do you know, she did it. I figured what a great idea to do that on my blog and challenge the readers (if I have any) to do it with me. Today I gave it a go not knowing if I would make time and I did! YES! I had 20 seconds to spare if you want to know the truth.

*patting myself on the back*

With school starting many of us need a quick fresh look to help us feel beautiful and kick start our day. So take the challenge and go for it! Share it on social media with the hashtag #freshinfifteen. I know I loved looking at all the ladies different looks!

Happy Hump Day, friends!

Nail Polish Hack

Am I the only one that feels naked without my nails done? It kills me when I don't have anything on, I feel incomplete. Oh the struggle! ;) I've been working on a nice at home manicure for awhile. I think I finally have something that will last more than 24-48 hours. I use 4 different products and that's including the actual nail color.

1. The first thing I do is file my nails and buff them. After buffing them, I used a dehydrator. This prevents the nail polish from shrinking. I used to wash my nails after buffing but if your nails aren't dry, the nail polish will shrink causing the nail polish to not be on the slightest tip of your nail which is an easy place for a chip. What that means is--when your nails are wet they grow, when they dry they shrink. So dehydrator is what I have turned to and I love it! You can get it from Sally Beauty supply or any beauty store!

2.  Following the dehydrator I put a coat of Gelous nail polish. This acts as a gel base coat almost and has improved my nail wear immensely.

3. Once that dries (and it does quickly), I put whatever color I am feeling like on! Lately it's been light pinks-- I've always been a sucker for those.

4. Lastly, I use either Out the Door top coat or Seche Lite. Both are awesome and work extremely well!!

Ladies, I hope with these few simple easy steps your manis will have an amazing turn around with how long they last!

decorating your bathroom!

Let me start off with first saying, I made it through the weekend I've been nervous about for months. It had it's hard moments but I did it. I miss my family immensely but I'm so grateful for texting, phone calls, and FaceTime. To say I was emotionally exhausted last night would be an understatement. I'm so thankful for my friends and family who have done nothing but encourage and love me as I start this new chapter. I can't thank you enough.

With that, I'm back to my normal content. Starting a new chapter means budgeting and all THAT fun stuff so today I'm sharing how I decorated my bathroom for under $65. I used Target for everything but the wall art. I purchased that at Hobby Lobby and I got it for $10. It was 50%, so normally $20 but Hobby Lobby always has coupons so take advantage of that. I think their current one is 40% off one regular priced item? My throw rugs I got at Target, they are Nate Berkus and were on sale for $7.50 each (yes you heard that correctly). It was a steal! I then took the rugs and matched it to the calm, lovely, chic shower curtain for only $15! The towels, in my opinion were the most expensive, I got a hand towel and bath towel for $16 and just like that my bathroom feels like something of my
own.

As you transition into a new phase of life whether that be college, buying your first home or apartment, getting married and decorating, or just ready for a new bathroom look, make the most bang for your buck and make your bathroom YOU without spending a fortune!

Happy Monday!

My new room in Aggieland!

Whew, it's been a long day. It's seven thirty and it feels like eleven. Today was eventful to say the least! I woke up at six thirty (well snoozed till seven) and began packing up the last of my things. The more I packed the weirder it got.. I've spent the past eight months (since I came home from Commerce) building my life in McKinney and today I packed my things up to start a chapter I've been waiting for since high school. I felt more peace today than I ever have about leaving. I'm not sure what to think or feel but I know this is good. Life is good. I'm okay. My heart is in a good place. The Lord will carry me through whatever this new chapter holds.

We drove to College Station (a little over three hours to be exact) and as we arrived into Bryan (the city you come through to get to College Station--where my grandparents live) I felt this huge sense of emotions come over me. I wasn't just visiting my family for the weekend, this is where I'll be living. I took a deep breath and with that moved forward.  We then arrived at the beautiful place I will call "home" for the next year. The craziness began as I unpacked my stuff. On a lighter note, I never realized till today how many clothes I have. I can thank my CAbi job for that one. ;) The more I unpacked the more my heart felt this sense of peace. God's got me. He does, He really does. My room is finished and things are good. My journey begins. Transition isn't the easiest for me but I have no doubt I'll make it through happier than ever. I can't thank all my friends and family enough for tending to my heart with their words and loving me through this so well. I truly don't deserve it. Tomorrow, the final touches and finding a church.

The full look.

Night dear friends.

Fashion Friday || Double Denim Trend

Chambray Shirt | Old Navy
Jeans | CAbi
Belt | Marshalls
Shoes | Altar'd State

Jean on Jean...many say its a fashion disaster and hate it, others love it. I'm the kind of girl that loves it IF and only IF it's done right.

Three fourths of the way through August, I must say I'm tired of the Texas heat.. it's completely and totally a drag at this point. I'm so ready for Fall it is ridiculous. As you can see by my outfit I'm doing my best to mix summer and fall. I love the casual button down tied with the casual boyfriend jean, it creates a shabby chic look that I think is becoming timeless. I mean come on, you can't match anymore than a light chambray shirt with a ripped light jean (well I mean technically you could..you could wear dark denim on dark denim, I'll have to try that at some point ;)) So do me a favor..step out of your comfort zone and ROCK it, I know you will!

Happy weekend, friends! I move in to my house tomorrow in College Station (hence why I haven't posted much--life has been a bit crazy).. I'll be sharing the pics of my room real soon!

P.S. My glasses are new and legit.. I promise they aren't "wanna be glasses" (and no I'm not hating on people that wear fake glasses, I used to do it).

A Natural Lip Ft. MAC

Hi, friends! Happy Monday!
Last week I had the opportunity to speak with some MAC makeup artists at Nordstrom's and they shared an amazing natural lip with me. It's so amazing that I bought the trio! I wanted to share it with you all because everyone is always looking for an awesome natural/nude lip. I've been on the hunt for this perfect look for years and it finally happened. If you love it as much as I do then please let me know because I'm a HUGE fan.

I start off with the primer (#4) it's Mary Kay and helps keep the color smooth and on longer.
Then I line my lips (#3) then fill them in completely. This is a great look if you like a little browner nude. My mom absolutely LOVES Mac lip liner. She says it lasts forever and is incredible quality. Based on the use I've had, I can definitely attest to that.

Boldly Bare lip liner | MAC
Next, I use the lipstick..it's a pinker nude and is matte so it creates a very clean smooth line. It works beautifully with the liner if you want to just stick with both of those and not use the gloss.

Myth Matte Lipstick | MAC
Then the final touch is a beautiful gloss that creates that fun, lovely, glistening lip!

Loose Rose Lipgloss | MAC

I hope you gal pals love this as much as I do!!

Scandal--A Netflix MUST!

Friends, it's been so long and I apologize! The past week has been hectic and I've truthfully been exhausted. I've felt a little writers block, ridiculous, I know..

Anyway, with the wrap up of my guilty pleasure, Gossip Girl.. I had to find myself a new Netflix series that would be a nice relaxer yet amazing entertainer before bed. I usually get in bed and watch an episode, two if it's been a bad day. ;) My friend had recommended the amazing show of Scandal and I had attempted to watch an episode awhile back and it didn't go well. I figured I'd give it one more shot and I'm so glad I did....this political drama is a MUST!! I'm six episodes in and I am a hooked! It captures your attention for sure. This drama is about a team of six lawyers who run a crisis management firm. The main character Olivia Pope used to be the President's secretary but left to start her own firm that she now runs with five other elite lawyers. She is determined to maintain each client's reputable image no matter what their crisis is, she is realizing though, her past is hard to leave behind. This drama will journey through her life as a business woman fighting to keep her personal life separate from her corporate one. Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope) does a spectacular job. I promise, you won't want to miss this show! Thriller, drama, romance all in one! PERFECTION!

Happy Friday, gal pals!

A weekend away!!

Hello, friends! It's been a few days! I spent this past weekend in the New Braunfels/San Antonio area for my birthday and our family vacation. It was a great getaway..back to the Monday morning grind. I'm currently working but squeezing in a quick post because I just can't resist. ;)
If you've never floated the Comal river, add it to the bucket list! Such a fun, relaxing experience! That's how we spent my birthday and it was great! Our trip was full of fun filled car rides, relaxing mornings, water, sun, laughs, smiles, gelato, the Alamo, Mexican food, and wonderful memories! Here's some pics from the trip! My guy also got to join my family for part of the trip--such a treat! This week my family from California is in town. All 19 of us haven't been together in about 4 years! I'll be sharing some pics from that later this week! On that note, happy Monday!!

The Albers gang! Birthday float ready!

Oh my love!
