Hello 2016!

A new year brings the feeling of hope for many, a fresh start, a redo button for those that weren't happy with 2015, or another year of nothing but the best for some. I must say after my year of growing, stretching, more growing and stretching. I was struck with this sense of fear as 2016 approached.

"What if this year is just like last? I don't think I can emotionally, physically or mentally do that. Will this year be any better?"

As hard as that is for me to admit, those were the first thoughts in my mind about the new year approaching. It scared me for sure but it shouldn't have....rather than looking at life from a glass half empty perspective I should have remembered that the Lord's mercies are new everyday and yes last year was hard but I know that no matter what 2016 holds I'll be a stronger and better person for it and whatever life throws at me I WILL COME THROUGH WITH FLYING COLORS.

I hope for all of you, the first four (almost five) days of 2016 have been wonderful and given you a small glimpse of how great this year will be. I know many are anticipating it could be the best year yet and I must say, I'm hopeful for that as well.

I normally don't have resolutions for the year but I decided this year I'm going to pick five and stick to them.

1. I am going to completely eliminate all swearing from my vocabulary. I don't talk like a sailor at all but I don't need to be using any colorful language ever. It's just not necessary. So goodbye to that!

2. At the end of every day I will be writing down one thing that was a sweet moment, memory, or good from the day. This will force me to think positively no matter how wonderful or hard the day was. By the end of the year I'll have trained myself to always find the good rather than the bad.

3. I want to read more books. As a college student textbook reading is constant so I don't always read during the semester but I do want to make it a goal to read more and be intentional about it.

4. I want my blog to be full of ads and daily traffic by the end of 2016 and on it's way to becoming a part time job for me. I don't know if that can happen in a year, but I want to be cruising on that path by the end of 2016.

5. I want to serve more around me. I want to be known as someone with a servant's heart. I greatly admire those kind of people so I'd like to start giving some of my time to others and blessing them in small ways this year.

Do you have any goals you're committed to this year? Feel free to share in the comments below! I'd love to hear them!
