Basic Blogging Tips

Follow your heart.. those are the three first words of advice I'll offer to those on the brink of writing their own blog. Just dive in and do it! If you dont start now you never will.
Yes writing a blog is a lot of work, and it takes a lot of time, but the rewards are endless!
Here are my top 5 tips for those wanting to start.

1. Come up with your content type
This is one of the most important steps. You have to decide what you're going to write about and pick something you are passionate about. This is crucial if you want your blog to be a success! Brain storm, write mock posts, and really get this part down.

2. Decide what web host you'll use
Blogger or Wordpress are the two options you have. I use blogger and have no complaints! But choose wisely unless you want to pay the big bucks to have someone transfer your content down the road.

3. Take lots of pics
Pictures are what draws your readers in so before you start blogging make sure you can have great pics!

4. Be real and be yourself
This can be hard. Dont share every detail of your personal life but also let your readers know that you're a real person. I've shared different vulnerable areas of my life before, and it's not always easy.. but people relate to the struggles you face, so dont be afraid to share some of them.

5. Follow your heart and just start!
I know there are many out there who dont think they'll ever be able to have a successful blog. That's so wrong! I cant encourage you enough to dive in and do it! It takes patience and time but it will be so worth it.

Do you have any questions for me about starting a blog? I am no where near a pro but I'll answer what I can or ask other fellow bloggers for their thoughts!

Business Attire

I had a career/internship fair and thought it would be the perfect occasion to share my outfit and help guide anyone needing some style tips for the business world. I struggled with whether it was not dressed up enough, too much, etc... I ended up having to nix the skirt because of the drastic 45 degree weather change here in Texas, but that's besides the fact.

I took a basic sweater blouse and paired it with a simple high waisted black pencil and a tiny kitten heal. This outfit is super simple if you can find the right pieces, and I'm here to help you do that!

Top | Cabi (Mod Cloth)
Skirt | Cabi (H & M) (Charlotte Russe)
Shoes | Target

PC: Maddie Foreman
My suggestions for the top I linked you to: if you feel it's too simple pair it with a jacket!
The skirts that I linked you up to are incredible prices! They are some for more expensive but normally people are all about the bargains! Am I right??

I hope this inspired each of you in a small way! Share your business looks on social media with the hashtag #bloomabilitybusiness.

LuLa Roe Legging Giveaway

I'm excited to be partnering up with a consultant (Marlayna Pressley) from the company LuLa Roe and giving away a pair of leggings! These clothes are nothing like I've ever seen before! They are adorable, fun, and are truly made for all body types! Some of the patterns are a little crazy for my style because I would definitely say I'm boring when it comes to color; but it's still so fun and the clothing is really well made!

Today I'm showcasing the leggings and showing you all the different ways you can wear them. The leggings are extremely soft and so comfortable. I chose this grey and I like it but I think in the future I'll go for a little darker color. But besides that I really love the material and how they don't stretch out like normal leggings. They hold their shape very well, which is totally a perk in my eyes. Definitely an overall great product! Here's all the ways I paired them to get the most bang for my buck!

They're perfect for working out...

A look inside my purse

I've always wondered what other ladies' hold in their purses.. Everyone has different little knick knacks that they keep to help them survive their days.

Love me some Wild Madagascar Vanilla lotion! A quick perfume freshen up is always necessary. Pens are a must! Nail polish too! Oh and a bandaid for that new shoe blister. Lastly, Poo La La... ladies, if you have never heard of this stuff (on the far left of the picture) you need some. ;) I'll let the website explain! Just trust me when I say, it's a necessity!

We cant forget the beautiful Kate Spade Wallet and Ray Ban Sunglasses!

For good measure, another little Kate Spade bag filled with Advil and one of my favorite doTerra oils-- Elevation! Aka..the joyful blend *the oil to get happy*! ;)

Nothing fancy but some "different" item for sure!

What's the strangest item in your purse??

Straight to Curly Tutorial

I love the flexibility of being able to add some wave to my hair after having it straight. Waves (not curls) can be a hard thing to master, but with the right curling iron.. it's pretty simple.

I used a 1 1/2 inch curling iron that is affordable and gives you this effortless look!
Watch below and let me know your thoughts!

Best dry shampoos:
Batiste (this one is less expensive so if you need a cheap one go for this)
Living Proof (if you want outstanding quality but obviously a little more go with this)

Fav hairspray:
Kenra Volume 25

Curling Iron Used:
Hot Tools 1-1/2

Do you prefer having your hair straight, wavy or curly?

My Night with Taya Kyle

Wow... if I aspire to be like anyone in my life it is most definitely Taya Kyle. For those of you who don't know who she is, Taya, is the widow of American Sniper, Chris Kyle. An incredible woman with the most selfless and humble heart I have ever met. Her love for her husband and the desire to carry his legacy on is truly beautiful.

She's chosen joy. Of anyone that has a free pass to be bitter and angry with the world, it's most definitely her. But she's chosen to be joyful amidst the heartbreak and reality (as she said) "her life hasn't turned out the way she expected or wanted. But this is where I am and I cant change that."

I was emotional throughout my entire day as I continued to read her book, reflect on her heart, and listen to her speak such powerful words. She's inspired me without a shadow of a doubt!

*side story*

I was prepped for today with my camera, flats (to dress up my outfit of course), and camera to have my book signed and then go and listen to her speak. I've been anticipating this for weeks now and I've been over the moon! It's finally time to head to the book signing and I go to pull out my camera to test lighting and guess what?! My camera is dead. Somehow it was left on allllll day. I was trying not to be super angry and just thanked God I had an Iphone 6 to make the pics work. Not ideal, but I made it work. So if you're wondering why the pics don't look as crisp now you know. ;)

Taya stood her entire book signing like her husband would. Chris would say "if the people are going to stand for me, I'm going to stand for them."

I was so anxious excited to meet her! I wanted to say so much but of course froze up. She talked to everyone who came about something and was very personable. I think that was one of the things I loved most. One of the best things she said to me was that I smelled so good and asked me what I was wearing. (yeah, internally I freaked out because that was such a high compliment). I told her, and the perfume I happened to be wearing was a strange name, Alien.

My favorite thing she said during her speech was that her husband wanted to be remembered for all the people he saved, not the number he killed. I think I loved that most because it truly said a lot about Chris Kyle's heart. His heart to love others above himself. He was a true American hero.

After her talk I felt compelled to message her. There were so many things I wanted to say but couldn't/didn't. PLUS I had a perfect way for her to remember me, "the girl that smelled so good" ;)

My words to Taya were:
Hi Taya! We met tonight at Texas A & M at the book signing. I'm Abi, the one who was wearing the Alien perfume. smile emoticonI didn't get to say all that I wanted to you during our short time but I just wanted to thank you for the service and legacy that you carry on as you go and speak to people all around the world! You truly are an incredible role model. My dad is retired Marine Corps and I am seriously dating a guy who is in the Air Force. Thank you for inspiring so many and dedicating your life and time to impacting others. You're selfless and humble heart is unlike anyone I have ever met. The Lord has used you (and is still using you) for His glory and it's beautiful!! Your work for the Kingdom is without a doubt making an impact. God Bless You, Taya! ~Abi Albers

P.S. Here is the link to the Alien perfume. ;)

I wish I could sit and have coffee with her, I really do! Maybe our paths will cross again someday but for now her impact on me was immaculate and I'm inspired and humbled by her heart and character!

For the link to her book, see my previous post here!

I've always been a fan of looking casual and chic all at the same time. These are simple pieces you can get anywhere. The trick is pairing them together correctly. The most expensive piece is $35 so this is Maxxanista shopping, ladies!! Get those bargains.

Jeans (Old Navy)  | Rock Star Skinny
Grey Shirt (Old Navy) | Boyfriend Top
Jacket (Cabi) | (Similar style) Pink Cardigan
Shoes (Old Navy) | Capri Sandals

Bracha | Salt Bar Necklace

Lip color (bareminerals) | Berry Blast

What's your go-to casual chic outfit?

Homemade Chicken Nuggets!

Who doesn't love chicken nuggets? Homemade, takes the cake!!

I am using The Pioneer Woman's chicken nugget recipe!

Ingredients:
2 whole boneless, skinless chicken breast
Vegetable oil

In one container:
1 cup of flour
1 tablespoon of seasoned salt
Some salt to taste
Some pepper to taste

In the 2nd container:
2 eggs whisked with 2 tablespoons of water (add more as needed)

In the 3rd container:
2 cups of 4C seasoned bread crumbs

This was the dinner as a whole.. not the nugget ingredients. (Yes it was a carb filled meal!)
Container 1, 2 , 3 from left to right.

Cut the chicken into pieces..not too big not too small.

Pour oil into pot, about one inch thick.

Add individual chicken pieces into flour then dip in egg then into the breadcrumbs.

Once all the pieces are coated, drop into the oil.
Leave in fryer until golden brown (3-4 minutes)

I know this isn't the healthiest BUT life isn't grand without some good food splurges every once in awhile!
What's your favorite homemade go-to meal??
