Chokers Chokers Chokers

I don't know about y'all but I'm officially obsessed with chokers!! They are such a simple piece that adds so much sass and fun! I can't get enough of them honestly! Something about them has me 😍.

Truthfully, I think chokers are something everyone can pull off, you just have to have the confidence and boldness to wear them!! I love that they are coming back in style. I also love how affordable they are (well mostly). They are usually under $40 and can be worn with countless outfits and pieces which makes them so worth while in my book! A piece that is versatile goes a long way. Y'all know how I feel about that!

This seems crazy but the choker I have on in my pictures is a simple piece of suede leather that I tied, practically a shoelace. Who knew wearing one around your neck would be so fashionable!!! It's news to me! What I love is that it spices up any simple outfit and makes it a little more exciting! A simple white tee with a fabulous choker can be a game changer!

These make the perfect stocking stuffer too! I've linked up some really cute chokers from Bauble Bar and Kendra Scott that are very cute and affordable!

Let me know your thoughts on the choker! Do you like it, love it, hate it?
Thanks so much for reading!!

The Perfect Nude Lip

Happy Cyber Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break with family and friends. Hopefully you shopped your heart out if that suits your fancy over the weekend!

I'm sharing with you today my new favorite lip color. I know I've gushed about it all over Instagram but I wanted to officially post for those that follow me and don't have a social media account. I'm officially hooked on Too Faced Melted Lip Colors. They go on like butter and last for hours! The first color I have from the Melted collection (but I promise there will be more) is Child Star! It's a fabulous color that is nude with a hint of brown. So fall, so fun!

I know the constant struggle for many is with a matte lip color it needs to be smooth because matte shows a lot of imperfections in our lips. Dead skin has to be removed, our lips have to be lined and we need to have moisture otherwise our lips feel dead. I found the perfect combo and prep for the perfect nude lip with moisture!

The first key is to use a lip scrub. I've linked up the one I use below! It's Laura Geller and takes all the dead skin off my lips before I apply any type of color! It's $16 but I've had it for like a year and a half and have hardly use any of it. A little goes a long way with this.

Next I line my lips with a liner that matches the color I'm applying or slightly darker. I love MAC lip liners so I've linked up a MAC lip liner. These last forever as well. I have one that I use on a regular basis and have had it over a year.

After lining them, I use a moisturizer. This preps the lips with a primer/moisturizer. It acts as a lipstick but has no color, helping the matte feel moisturized without being glossy. This product is the Clinique one linked below.
Once all these quick steps are complete, apply your matte lip color. If you decide to get the Too Faced lip color, it makes the application process very easy. The brush allows you to get in the crevices of your lips without getting it on your skin. Your color should last 4-6 hours depending on what you're doing! I love the feeling of it being wet when it goes on and then eventually dries.

Seriously, these make a perfect stocking stuffer! I've also linked up a cute "ornament" lip color from Too Faced and a duo with multiple options that you can break up and give to three different friends. Options, options, options!

Hopefully this is helpful for you! This color is absolutely perfect for everyday. I can't quite decide what my next color will be but as soon as I decide, I'll be sure to let you know. 😉

Black Friday Giveaway

Happy Black Friday! Are you braving the crazy or spending the day snuggled up on the couch?! I did last night and ended up with a fabulous pair of Steve Madden shoes very similar to these. The outlet was insane near my house... #enoughsaid

I thought it would be fun to do a giveaway on the blog in the spirit of Black Friday AND because I truly am so grateful for y'all and love to giveaway fun goodies as much as possible! I know I shared a few months ago that I began a jewelry making venture. It's been great and I have absolutely loved being able to do it as a small fun hobby on the side. As Christmas approaches sales have picked up, which is even more fun! They really do make great gifts for your girlfriends if they love druzy stones or chokers.

I am giving away the 3 way choker! The winner will get to work with me to pick the stone they want as well as the color leather!! The 3 way choker is great because it can be worn short, long and as a bracelet giving you tons of versatility! Being the frugal gal that I am you're really getting the most bang for your buck with the price, quality and versatility of the piece. 😉  You can purchase pieces through my Etsy site!

The details to enter the giveaway are below but most of the action will be on Instagram @bloomabilityblog.

Also, check out Diff Eyewear's killer Black Friday sale!!! I'll be sharing on Instagram a new frame that I am loving. It's so stylish and trendy!

You can find me binging on Gilmore Girls and if you know anything about me, I don't binge watch anything so this is unusual for me. 😉

Dressing Classy on a Budget

Dressing classy on a budget could possibly be one of the hardest things in the world. Seriously, feeling trendy can be difficult and discouraging if you're not willing to put a couple hundred dollars down. Being pretty comes with a price, or so they say..

I'm here to tell you breaking the bank doesn't have to happen to have great style. My friend calls me Frugal and I proudly wear that name. I'll search and hunt for deals like no one's business! So if you are ever looking for outfit inspiration that's affordable, I'm your girl. 😉  My tips of advice will hopefully help you feel prepared and inspired to head into the holiday Christmas parties and family get togethers!

1. Set a budget for yourself when it comes to purchasing items. Don't let yourself go outside of it. You may have to spend more time to find the pieces that you want but it's worth it. Decide whether your time or money is more worth giving up. Once you know that, you can move forward with what you would like to purchase.

2. When you have an outfit in mind, or a Pinterest inspiration picture, try to pull things from your closet that could substitute or work for the pieces that you love in the picture. Pick ONE item that you will "splurge" on or purchase. If you decide to purchase one item you can usually spend more money on it because you're buying one piece as opposed to five. My advice is when buying just a single piece that's more expensive, pick something that is versatile and can be worn a lot of different ways. Lets be real, the crazy pattern items are amazing and fun to splurge on every once in awhile but they aren't re-worn often! Here are some pieces I have splurged on that are worth the money: Nine West HeelsKendra Scott EarringsKate Spade Work Tote

3. Shop the off season sale rack, you'll thank me later. 😉  I know it's hard to buy clothes that are for the exact opposite season but you get super good deals at Nordstrom, Dillard's, Belk, and other department stores because they are trying to get rid of last season items. (Last season smash season, the clothes are still cute!)

4. My rule of thumb: I don't spend more than $70 on a dress I wont wear more than once or twice. Unless it's a super special event or an extenuating circumstance like a wedding or a ball.

5. If you're willing to put in the time, dig at Nordstrom Rack, TJmaxx, Marshalls, or Belk Clearance. You can find so many good deals there!! Digging pays, pun intended. 😉

Take my all my tips with a grain of salt. Everyone has their own style and way of doing things, this is just how I do it!

Thanks so much for reading!! Happy Thanksgiving! Let the Black Friday craziness commence and Christmas festivities begin. 😊

Thanksgiving Style

I always seem to struggle with what I should wear on Thanksgiving. The colors that always come to mind when I'm brainstorming outfits are yellow, blue, orange, and plaid. Those to me are just "fall." The other debate is whether to wear a dress or pants. So many choices but only one Thanksgiving holiday. 😉  I decided I would put together a fun casual Thanksgiving outfit to give all of you still struggling with what to wear some ideas.

This sweater from Old Navy is a staple and super easy to pair with things. I love pairing a collared shirt underneath it and letting it poke out if I really want to add some detail and dimension.

My pants are the perfect casual or work pant. They have a material that is very textured but the fabric has a lot of spandex in it making it extremely comfortable. Can't recommend the Pixie Pant from Old Navy enough.

I also love a cute hat! I know it's not cold enough to wear that in Texas but in some places it is and it really adds a fun accessory to the outfit! I promise you, everyone can wear one of these. They are darling, you just have to bite the bullet and actually wear it!

Lastly, who doesn't love a good brown bootie?! They go with everything and are so cute. I love the chestnut color because it pairs so well with grey or black!! Versatility is key. (I'll be sharing how to dress classy on a budget later this week so keep your eyes peeled for that on Thursday. 😊)

Thanks for reading and comment below with all your outfit ideas for Thanksgiving!!

Calligraphy Class

Happy Monday, friends! It's Thanksgiving week, can you believe it?! Good food, friends, family, leftovers, naps, and gratitude! It doesn't get much better than that!

Last week I had the opportunity to take a calligraphy class with my dear friend, Emily and let me just say, it was a blast! I don't know if any of you have the art of writing with a calligraphy style but it's a skill that's hard to come by! It's definitely more than worth the effort and time it takes to learn though! I took the class led by a lady named Jessica who has her own company, Reveleigh & Co. We both have the last name of Albers so that was a fun discovery when I first met her. She started her own business a little over three years ago and now has been featured in big time wedding magazines and has a slew of clients that she does incredible work for!

I highly recommend taking this kind of class at some point if you have any interest in perfecting your handwriting (although calligraphy and regular penmanship are very different). A private class is the perfect party idea for a ladies night. Grab the wine bottle and start creating! Once you get the hang of it, it's very therapeutic and so fun! A calligraphy set is also an awesome gift if you know friends with an interest or desire to learn! Here is a link for one at Hobby Lobby. Use the 40% coupon for an even better deal!

I was definitely struggling at first because the movement and way you hold the quill is very different. It takes a lot of practice so let me just say that if you decide to try calligraphy, be patient. 😉  I wanted to be a beautiful letterer by the end of the night, but lets be honest, I only broke the surface. haha.

I'm telling you, it's the perfect gal pal date night! You've got to at least try it!

Simple lines were my first attempt and that was a struggle but I eventually got it down. lol.

By the end of the night I was able to write my name fairly well!

Some things I learned from the experience were:
  1. Have a friend to attempt and practice with, it makes it more fun.
  2. Be patient and just enjoy the experience
  3. Go buy a calligraphy kit if it's something you think you would enjoy and give it a shot. You never know what one night of calligraphy might turn into!
  4. Angle your arm with the paper and move your entire arm, not just your wrist.
  5. Don't try to copy anyone's style, yours will develop with time.
Overall the night was a blast and a great break from the craziness of all that's been going on! I thought this would be a fun experience to share with y'all. A little out of the ordinary but still fun! Thanks for reading and giving me part of your day. I seriously appreciate every single one of you!!

The Perfect Fall Breakfast Muffin

So one of my absolute favorite bloggers is Katey McFarlan with Chronicles of Frivolity. She is an adorable Fort Worth gal that blogs about high end fashion and the daily ins and outs of her life. She is expecting a baby girl in February so following her journey has been such a treat! Just a few weeks ago she shared an amazing recipe that I knew I had to try and share on my blog! Let me just say you will go crazy over these muffins. They take 30 minutes total (prep and bake) and are so easy! You could feed tons of people with them AND they are gluten free. #score
I made them on Tuesday and made enough to eat for breakfast every morning for the next week!

2 Eggs
1/2 Cup Pumpkin Puree
1/2 Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
2 tbs. Maple Syrup (honey works too!)
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
1/4 tsp Salt
1.5 Cup of Oats
1/ 4 Cup Chocolate Chips
1 tsp Baking Powder

Preheat oven to 375
Whisk everything, then add oats, chocolate chips and baking powder and stir until it's a thick batter.
Bake for 20 minutes or until fully cooked!

Please let me know if you try this or if you have any other gluten free breakfast options! 😊
Thanks for reading, friends!!!

A Hair Refresh

I used to be a Batiste dry shampoo fan, BUT when I started to realize that my scalp was drying out and I was itching it all the time, I knew that it was time for a change. I recently purchased Drybar's Detox Dry Shampoo (after hearing people rave about it) and I'm obsessed. It smells amazing, I don't have to use much, and my hair lasts for days! And by days, I mean 5-6. 😉  What's not to love?!?

Using dry shampoo can literally change your hair life and I'm not joking! Ladies that have to wash their hair every day or every other day I'm hoping my tips will change your hair game and cut down on time spent working on that beautiful masterpiece of yours!

Your hair can feel as clean as it does the day you wash it with these simple steps:

  • Dry Shampoo
I've linked up the best dry shampoos that are worth the money [see at the bottom of the post]. They really soak up the oil in your hair, don't leave a lot of white residue, and don't dry your scalp out! Apply this to the roots and in the areas that you feel like are super shiny. I usually divide my hair into sections and spray where needed. My ears is where the most oil is and on the top of my head. Where you should spray depends on your areas that are most greasy.
  • Blow Dry
Take your blow dryer and run it through your hair as if it were wet. This will give you volume and get rid of any small amount of residue from the shampoo. Also, flip your hair on the opposite side of your part to help create body.
  • Style
After blow drying either give it a shake and go or style to your liking!

With the right dry shampoo and perfect amount of heat, I think you will really see a difference in how fresh and clean your hair is! Rock the dirty hair girl, besides, who has time to wash their hair everyday? Not me! 💁

The Balancing Act

It can be so hard to find time to be productive, get work done, do the things you love and also rest. It's so important for your well being. It's truly a struggle for me. Can anyone else relate? I'm hitting that point in the semester where my brain is having trouble remembering information and I don't know how much more I can take. I'm ready for a break. I'm feeling unmotivated and a little blah.

I woke up yesterday morning after spending my Saturday night out late for the A & M football game (yes, our team fell apart). I wasn't ready for it to be Sunday because that meant the next day was Monday. I had school to work on, blog posts to write and other work related things to do. I decided that it would be a comfy day with no makeup, yes I would get work done but I would also just rest before starting my week. It's important to take some "me" minutes in your life. Every one of us has a crazy schedule and things that pull at us every which way but it's so important to take some time and breathe. My anxiety can spike to horrible levels on Sunday because I feel like I haven't had enough time to recharge.

This week as life pulls at you in every direction try to balance your work, your family and some time for you to personally rest so you can be the best version of yourself. I know this is much easier said than done but be kind to your body and heart because the reality is we are all very hard on ourselves. Here are some of my practical tips for doing things that make me happy and also recharge me.

1. Reminding myself to take some good deep breathes.
I know this may sound silly but getting oxygen to your brain is so good. Breathe in PEACE and out anxiety and stress. When I imagine whatever stress is on my mind leaving me as I breathe out, it really helps me to relax.

2.  Take 15-30 minutes to do absolutely nothing.
Whether this means take a bath, rest your eyes on the couch, drink some tea or coffee, whatever this may be. If you can't dedicate 15 minutes then do 5. Any amount of time helps.

3. Go for a walk.
This gets your blood and endorphins flowing and really will increase your quality of life. It doesn't have to be long but this always makes me feel better. Sometimes when Zach comes we will go get coffee at night then go for a walk. It's a sweet time to talk and just soak in the brisk air.

4. When you accomplish something that was hard or it's been a difficult week, treat yourself.
Whether this is a smoothie, lunch at your favorite restaurant, Starbucks, or a candy bar. Give yourself a reward for accomplishing a lot in your week or a hard project at work. It makes tasks seem more manageable and makes you feel good, because who doesn't love their favorite food?!

5. Put the phone away!
You've got to give yourself time to breathe and how can you breathe and think for yourself when Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are verbalizing so many opinions and thoughts. Give yourself "office hours" and after 9 pm don't let yourself be consumed with all the chaos and drama in the social media world.

Whether you try to implement one of these a day or choose one to focus on for the week, dedicate your time and be intentional. Taking "me" minutes will change your perspective and really improve your quality of life, I promise!

Have a blessed week, lovelies!

A transition outfit

Choker & BraceletsHand Tied Necklace
As the temperatures slowly but surely drop here in Texas I figured it would be the perfect day to share an outfit that I think works great as a transition with the temperatures dropping. I'll first say that no white after Labor Day is crazy, I'll wear white all year round. It's a beautiful winter color and that rule is irrelevant! (In case you wanted my thoughts on that. lol)

I love a simple crochet poncho! It can be worn with so many pieces and that's what makes it so great! If you are hot blooded rock a simple tank as the temperature drops, if you're cold blooded (like me) wear a long sleeve or simple blouse underneath! A crochet poncho is light weight and easy to travel with also! It's the perfect amount of coverage without being too hot. I also love that a neutral poncho can have so many fun accessories added to it! Whether you go for a nude lip, red or darker plum color, it pairs so well with this simply detailed piece! Make it the next addition to your closet if you don't already have it. ;)

How to apply false eyelashes

False eyelashes can be your best friend and worst enemy. They can be hard to apply, give you difficulties, not look natural, but then they can look amazing, make you feel absolutely beautiful and be very inexpensive if you go to the drug store. Over the years I have become quite skilled at applying them since it became a regular thing during show week when I was dancing. I loved how big and thick they were on stage but they looked completely fake when someone would see me up close. I love my makeup to be done up and beautiful when the time is right but not over the top. I decided to give the small false add ons a try and I'm obsessed. They add just the amount of fullness to give you a little extra something something but do not look over the top!

Before I give you a step-by-step photo tutorial. Here is the before and after pic! Everyone needs one of these to see how wonderful something truly is, it's what convinces you to get them. ;)

Here are the few items you need to make your process as smooth and painless as possible!
  • Glue
  • Lashes
  • Tweezers
  • Mascara

First, pour a small drop of glue into the cap so you can easily stick the end of the lash in.

Grab your lash and hold it in the direction that your lashes flow so you can easily apply it once the glue is on. Dip the end of the lash in the glue and place it where the skin meets the lash. Depending on how short or how few lashes you have will determine the number of add ons you use.  For reference, I used four.

Next, make sure it is placed correctly and adjust as necessary with your tweezers.

Do any adjusting before the glue drys because once it does, they are hard to get off.

For the final touch, use mascara to blend the false lashes with the real ones to give the illusion that they are all your lashes. ;)

And you're done! It definitely takes patience so don't be frustrated. It took me 3-4 tries on one silly lash. Some will go on perfectly and others wont, just give it time! The end result is pure fabulous!
