Apple Watch Review

In light of Christmas almost being here I thought I would share the inside scoop and my thoughts on the Apple Watch for anyone considering purchasing it as a gift for themselves or a loved one! I've had my watch for a little over a month and I am loving it. Prior to purchasing it though I talked to a lot of people and did a lot of research. What's the different between the first and second series? Is it really worth the money because some think it's just another phone on your wrist. I'm here to tell you, it's a sleek accessory that really has a lot of perks! I'm going to address all these questions and list the features I love. When I was on the fence, I wanted a blog post that spelled everything out so I'm doing that with hopes of answering questions for all my readers and anyone else that stumbles upon my blog. 😊

What's the difference between the first and second series?

First series: $269
  • Track your physical activity with a step counter
  • Check the weather with the tap of a finger
  • Check your heart rate
  • Stay connected with texts, phone calls, and anything on your calendar
  • Use your maps so you can safely look at your wrist and not be staring down at your phone
  • Control music, reminders, and more
  • Water resistant
Second series: $369
  • All the same features as the first series but add:
  • Waterproof up to 50 meters
  • GPS capability without your phone

With this in mind, I opted for the first series. I am not a swimmer and I also knew if I needed GPS capabilities I would always have my phone so paying the extra $100 was not worth it at all. As the watch improves I'll be curious to see what features Apple adds.

The features I love about the watch:

1. The convenience of being able to check texts quickly when I'm in a place where it's not appropriate and reply to it later.
I love this feature because when I'm in class or at work or at an event and my phone is in my purse, I can quickly glance and then ignore it. If something is urgent I can know and address it. I've also realized I look at my phone less when things come in because I can just glance on my watch and not get distracted and somehow end up on Facebook or Instagram.

2. The timer
I really love this feature especially for my work power hours and naps. The alert is a nice vibration and nothing crazy obnoxious that startles me and gives me anxiety. This is obviously a personal preference but something I love.

3. Choosing the face and customizing based on things that are important to me.
I can choose the color of the font, face, and background of my watch. This is so nice because when I glance at my face any quick info I need is right there like: my activity tracker, weather, location, time, date, heart rate and when the sun will rise or set depending on the time of day.

4. Maps and GPS
I haven't quit figured out the perfect view for when I am driving but I love that my watch vibrates when I am supposed to turn. It's like a soft alert that if somehow I missed the instructions I will be notified with a vibration. Also, no texts or anything come through when maps is open which is a great safety feature.

I'm excited to experiment with apps. I haven't had the time to do that but know that there are tons. I truly think this was a great purchase! It's a great gift for teachers (all of my teacher friends rave about theirs), students, athletes, moms, dads, anyone really!

I've linked up the best Christmas deals at the bottom of the post so it's easy for you to shop!

Side note: My watch is the 38 mm in rose gold first series.

Target is having a great deal for the series 1 and you can get it before Christmas! Amazon is a wonderful place to get different color silicone bands. I've included those things below! Happy shopping!!

Thanks so much for reading!
