Christmas Traditions!

Happy Christmas, friends! We are days away from what I consider the biggest holiday and celebration of the year. I'm thrilled!

Today, I wanted to share with y'all my family's Christmas traditions. I always love hearing what other families do and how they make Christmas special. If you read this post, do me a favor and share a Christmas tradition in the comments. 😊

1. On Christmas Eve we open Christmas pjs! This is something I've always loved. Every year the pjs are different and it makes them that much more special! Then on Christmas day we get the classic sibling/family Christmas picture in pjs. (side note: because my mom is a professional photographer, pictures are taken all throughout Christmas morning regardless of how everyone looks. 😂  These are always my least favorite. lol)

2. Christmas morning Benjamin wakes everyone up as early as possible. The anxiously excited 9 year old just can't get enough of Christmas morning! But what nine year old can't?! After he wakes everyone up, we all come into the family room and my Dad opens the Bible and reads the story of Christmas. This is always such an incredible reminder, regardless of the chaos, I want my heart to be in the right place because Jesus truly is the reason for the season.

3. Our stockings are opened before we start underneath the tree. Then we eat monkey bread! This recipe is amazing..before I went completely gluten free it was the sweetest part of my day. Pun intended. 😉

 4. For actually opening presents they are opened individually from youngest to oldest. I know some families open all at once but we drag the process out as long as possible. I really enjoy this because we can see what everyone opens up and take our time! Do you open yours up individually or all at the same time?

After everything is open we watch the Christmas parade and stay in our pjs till at least noon! Then we spend the rest of the day playing with our gifts and being all together. This truthfully has to be one of the most relaxing days of the year and I love that.

I'm so excited for Christmas to be here! Aren't you??

I'm wishing you and your family a merry merry Christmas!

Thanks for reading!!

  1. Aww thanks for sharing, Abi! I love hearing about other people's family Christmas traditions :). One of our Christmas traditions is to stay up til at least midnight on Christmas eve playing board games, eating snacks, and watching Christmas movies. Then most of us kids pull out sleeping bags and sleep by the Christmas tree.
