Top Knot How-To

I've gotten so many compliments on my top know half up half down hair so I figured it would be perfect to share a quick easy tutorial so y'all can rock this do!

Here is everything you'll need!
1) Hairspray
2) Tease Comb
3) Brush
4) Hair tie
5) Bobby Pins

Brush your hair to prep it and make sure all knots are out!

Section it off at the crown and make sure your pieces aren't uneven. It's easy to grab extra pieces and the back of your hair look like a zig zag line. lol 😂

Take the crown and tease tease tease! You need volume so don't be shy.

Take your ponytail holder and wrap it around your hair twice (or three depending on thickness) and pull it halfway through on the third or fourth wrap.

Once your hair is pulled halfway through take the ends and pull at them to make it messy! Also pull at the front of your hair to give it the volume from teasing. This helps loosen the hair that was pulled back tight so it looks relaxed and not slicked to your head.

Next, take the ends and your bobby pins and start wrapping it into a bun type shape. It doesn't need to be perfect, messy is key, but not too messy.

Once bobby pinned, fix any pieces that are causing you problems and finish with a nice mist of hairspray!

I hope this was helpful! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Happy styling. 😉

Texture Spray vs. Hair Spray

Lets talk optimizing the best products for styled hair!

Many people hate hairspray. I used to until I moved to Texas and big hair became my favorite thing! My opinion is that hair spray and texture spray are the success to beautifully styled locks. I've learned a lot about the difference between the two and what they do to your hair. I'm going to break it down so you can decide what will work best for you and your lifestyle, or hairstyle shall I say. 😉

Hairspray is something that holds. It's creates a very crisp look that takes away fly aways and gives you something that's clean. A good hairspray is something you should always have, if you decide to go with something cheap it usually comes out very wet and ends up

making your hair crunchy. Quite the opposite of crisp and clean. This is the reason I truly believe a lot of women hate hairspray, they don't have the right kind. Kenra hairspray is the best kind I have ever used on my hair. They have different strengths based on numbers and it's amazing! I am a huge fan of Kenra Volume 13 because it's the perfect amount of hold without stiffness. It's sleek and clean!

Texture spray gives a more undone look! It gives your hair grit and a messy feel. It's very natural looking and makes your hair seem effortless and not so put together like hairspray does! Bed Head has been so-so, nothing out of this world amazing but it gets the job done. It's definitely more of a wet mist but dries nicely and my hair isn't crunchy, just undone and natural. With texture spray your hair falls nicely as the day goes on.

So with that being said, if you like a polished crisp look everyday go with hairspray. If you want natural and effortless go with texture. I think you always need both on hand because your hair will change based on situations and events and you always need to be prepared.

Hopefully this was helpful! Thanks so much for reading and happy styling!

Coats and Jackets

Hi, friends! It's good to be back! Forgive me for being MIA, it's been good to take a little break though in get into my routine for the spring.

Here in Texas there are days when I need a wonderful warm coat and other days when I need a light jacket. The weather fluxes like the emotions of a woman. 😂  I was given this wonderful J Crew coat for Christmas and couldn't help but share it with y'all! I know not everyone needs a wool coat so I wanted to share a combination of coats and jackets to accommodate every reader!

Some women have sensitivities to wool and others don't like feeling like a puffer fish in a big parka! Jackets are also essential because they keep you warm without bundling you up! Regardless, coats and jackets are essential to surviving October-March! They are pieces in my opinion that you can spend more money on to get the most bang for your buck. If you decide on a good style and color they are pieces that can last forever! This J Crew coat I'm sharing is one that I will use for years. The sizes are all over the place but they'll be around in the fall again so you can snag them then. They are restocked at the factory store annually! It's lightweight but warm and so chic! I'm a huge fan!! If you buy the coat through the normal J Crew site its about double the price. On the factory site it's significantly cheaper. My mom bought mine before Christmas so the sale at the factory store was huge. If you want your special size in the color you want start looking around November. I could talk about this coat all day long but I won't bore you because the jacket really does the talking.

I've linked up some wonderful coats and jackets below to help you thrive through these last few winter months! Happy Monday and thanks so much for reading!!

My Visit with Blushington

I've been sharing my Blushington boxes with y'all since the beginning of June and it's been such a fun treat to receive all different products from them every month. A few weeks ago I was able to go to the actual store and receive some of their beauty services. Let me tell you one thing I'm sold on....eyebrow tinting.

This service basically tints your brows so you don't have to fill them in (expect a little in my case). In this picture below are my natural eyebrows with nothing done to them. On the left, my fabulous makeup artist was starting the process.

This is after, I didn't get a head on shot but they are a little fuller! It makes them darker and fills in the gaps where hair seems to be lacking.

You'll notice in this picture they haven't been filled in at all and look very defined! This is eyebrow tinting at its finest. 😉

My experience with Blushington was nothing short of fabulous! I was treated like a princess and left feeling absolutely beautiful! If you are ever in need of a makeover, find one near you. Below I've included some of the products that were used on me and I loved. My absolute favorite of the ones below is the Stila Primer.. it reduces redness, brightens this skins and makes you look fabulous before any makeup is put on! I highly recommend it.

P.S. Many have asked about my eyelashes and how they are so long. My secret is coming to the blog, so stay tuned. 😉
