Fighting the Anxious Battle

Friends, I had a plan to make this post short and sweet but while I closed my eyes for a few minutes yesterday from the exhaustion of fighting my head, thoughts, and anxious heart I decided I would share my struggle. The reality is, I want this blog to be a place where you feel like you have a virtual best friend, to talk about the good things, exchange outfit ideas, makeup, beauty, life tips, share happy moments but also share in struggle. Even though being open and vulnerable when I'm struggling isn't my favorite it needs to be done.

My anxiety comes in waves.. if you can believe this, it's the worst right before my hormones go a little crazy once a month (if you know what I mean, I apologize if that's too much detail for anyone but I'm just being real 🙈) I feel like I am reverting back to my old self. The anxious Abi when I started college who could barely make it through a day without breaking into tears and feeling so on edge I didn't know how to handle myself. I questioned everything in my life and I know the enemy was using that to try and throw me off course. The course the Lord had/has for me.

It's been a rough few days. I've felt depressed, sad, anxious, questioning my life and choices and I hardly ever do that anymore so whenever a stumbling block comes I feel like I'm going back to my old ways, when in reality I've made so much progress. I will have rough days, struggling wont just disappear as I get older but I can rest in the fact that God is still good even when I feel alone and sad and far from everything. I need to not act on what I'm feeling but speak truth over myself.

I share my heart with you because I want you to know I'm not perfect and I don't have my life together. I'm just running this race as best as I can and making the most of the life I've been given. We ALL have rough days and all have seasons where we struggle and question our life and the choices we have made but that's part of the journey.

It's about blooming into who we are supposed to be which is why I modeled my shirts with the saying "Bloom with Grace." We are blooming into who we are supposed to be constantly and we all need to strive to do it with grace as well as extend grace to ourselves and not be so hard on our hearts. I am a culprit of this myself. I beat myself up over a bad day but lets be honest, we all have them.

If you get anything out of this post know that you are loved, treasured and adored and your life and journey is so important in this world! You are alone no matter what you are struggling with. Life can be hard but it can also be so sweet! Relish in the good and become better from the bad and hard. I promise you'll be more beautiful because of it.

Thanks for reading and listening to me share my heart!

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.

Tips for adjusting to a new hair cut

So about a month ago I got my hair trimmed and put some coloring in it. It wasn't a type of coloring that damages my hair, it's more a moisturizing color to even it out (I wanted to get rid of my blonde) that will gradually fade with him. I'm trying to grow my hair back out so with an effort to do that I wanted a cut that had some layers in it and looked healthy. All that being said, adjusting to a new cut can be hard. You're used to how your hair used to be and now it's different and so styling it can be discouraging and daunting. I wanted to give you all a few tips with how I handle new hair and the products I use on a daily to help keep my hair healthy and beautiful!

1. Don't freak out, it feels shorter than it actually is.. within a week or two the initial cut feeling will be gone and it will feel more manageable.
2. Be patient with yourself as you style it with a curling iron. Try different iron sizes for the first week to figure out what you like! (To give yourself a true beach look if your hair is shorter, leave the ends out.)
3. Pinterest and Youtube tutorials are your very best friend. They can help you learn how to style the new do. These are some of my favorite tutorials Messy Waves Curl TutorialBeach Waves TutorialFlirty Curls and Soft Waves w/ T3
4. Wear your hair up to give it some time to get over the initial cut hump.
5. Experiment with it in different ways and be open to new styles and wearing it differently than you ever have before.
6. Be confident and rock it! I promise it looks beautiful!

If you're wanting to replicate my hair color, tell your hair stylist this:

Here are some of the products I use on my hair on a daily basis:

Hopefully this was helpful for all you ladies with a fresh new do! Happy Monday!!

Pool Side to Grocery Store Dress

Happy Thursday! I'm about halfway through my classes and I am so grateful.. It's been a long week with a lot of studying. I've been trying to find joy in the mundane because that's exactly how life has felt lately. Do you ever have seasons where you know all good things are happening but right now it feels dull, boring and hard? That's where I am right now. Choosing to be joyful regardless of how I feel and not be discouraged or feel like life is mundane.

If you plan on heading to the pool at all this summer and need an easy throw on cover up that will also work to run errands in, then I have the dress for you. This outfit is adorable to wear to the poolside or throw back on after hours in the sun to run to Target or where ever you need to go. The denim is lightweight and will dry quickly, the hat covers any crazy wet, sweaty or sun kissed hair and these slides are perfect if your feet are slightly damp.

Truthfully this outfit is a complete win! Adorable, affordable and perfect for everyday summer wear. Hopefully you love it just as much as I do. Back to the books I go. 😅  Have a wonderful weekend! My brother's (Zak) graduation party is Saturday. I'm super excited to celebrate his accomplishments with close friends and family. Thanks so much for reading!

Staple Spring + Summer Shoes

Happy Tuesday, friends!!
Today I'm sharing two staple shoes that will carry you through the summer! Both can be worn casually or dressed up and you can get both pair for under $75!! These two shoes have been my go-to since it started warming up in Texas so I cant help but share them with y'all! Lets start with the nice Steve Madden wedge. Below I have pictures of me in all kinds of outfits wearing them and then  a basic shoe shot so you can see how high the wedge is! These come in four colors. 😍

Next up is the lovely Sam Edelman dupe from Target! These I don't have as many pics in because I got them after the wedges but I've been wearing them constantly and I am loving them. They do take some breaking in on the toe but they make any simple outfit look absolutely adorable! They come in the striped and black!

So as you can see I'm pretty much obsessed with both these pairs of shoes!! The pictures do most of the talking!! Thanks so much for reading!! Happy Shopping gal pal! 😉

Easy Go-To Summer Dress

Happy Monday, loves! Today I'm starting two maymester classes.. in 10 days I'm knocking out 6 credit hours... 😱  (What have I gotten myself into?) Oh well.. in ten days it will be done and I can breathe a little! I have to keep my eye on the prize.. graduation. OH and take it one day at a time!

If you missed me sharing over the weekend, I am getting a puppy! I'm over the moon excited!! She will be mine in a few shorts weeks and I can hardly wait. She is absolutely precious. I'm so excited for that sweet little dog to love me as much as I already love her. 😍   I'll be giving her an Instagram so stay tuned for the beginning of June when I get her. I'm waiting to share the name I have until I pick her up but that's something exciting that happened a few days ago!

In other news, lets talk clothes and this beautiful dress! It's from Nordstrom and I'm pretty much obsessed. It's lightweight, fun, flowy and just beautiful! It really wears well on all body types because of how loose and flowy it is. I feel like I'm thirty, flirty and thriving! 😉  (name that movie!) This dress can be dressed up or down. Wear it with a cute wedge for a summer get together or a cute flip flop or flat for an everyday feel. It also comes in a beige color! Also, the shoes I wear all the time, pictured above now come in grey so snag those below!

Hopefully this lifts your mood as we kick off the week on this beautiful Monday!
